StayWell Health Management: our story
An industry pioneer for more than thirty years, StayWell has a long, proud history of dedication to population health management. Our roots extend back to 1978, when Control Data Corporation started the StayWell program as a way to improve the health of its employees through health promotion and behavior change.
In 1987, G.L. “Bud” Anderson,
John Tarbuck
and
David Anderson
led an employee acquisition of the StayWell business from Control Data. Bud Anderson became chief executive officer of the employee-owned company, called StayWell Health Management Systems.
In 2009, StayWell extended its service offerings to disease management by acquiring assets of our longtime partner,
LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, Inc.
Today, StayWell is a privately held company located in St. Paul, Minnesota. Founders John Tarbuck and David Anderson remain intimately involved in the company's senior leadership team.
Renowned for championing extensive research and development to further its mission of preventive health care, StayWell is widely recognized as an industry founder and continuous innovator for population health management.
StayWell Health Management is part of the
StayWell
family of companies, and enjoys strong backing from parent company
MediMedia USA
. The StayWell family includes such health information and service companies as Consumer Health Publishing Group/Harvard Health Publications, Krames, Red Cross Strategic Business Alliance, StayWell Custom Communications, StayWell Productions, and Vitality Communications.
