Health Management Challenge

Keith is a wellness professional working at a hospital system. He’s looking for a vendor who can administer health assessments (HAs) and help triage at-risk individuals into his program’s pre-existing risk management programs.

Approach

StayWell health Management worked with the client to develop a StayWell solution that will ultimately improve employees’ health, assist in managing medical costs, help reduce absenteeism, and improve productivity.

StayWell Health Management recommended that a modest incentive of a $25 gift check be used to encourage employees to participate in the HA.  The HealthStep® HA was delivered onsite and coordinated with client-managed health screenings. It was available in English and Spanish and provided participants with instant feedback. The program also included the following:

  • Collaboration with the hospitals’ internal communications department to provide:
    • Integration of program communications with existing branding efforts, communication channels, and hospital events
    • A StayWell standard, four-color, introductory brochure mailed to employees’ homes
    • An e-mail communication campaign managed by the client
  • An aggregate management summary report following the administration of the HA.
  • Access to StayWell’s toll-free HelpLine for assistance with HA completion, post-intervention support, or other program issues.
  • An instant invitation provided at onsite events to high-risk individuals to participate in the appropriate, client-sponsored onsite programs, classes, and campaigns.
  • Invitations delivered throughout the year to high-risk individuals identified through the HA results
  • An annual HA to assess and reinforce successful changes.

Results

StayWell Health Management administered over 4,500 surveys at four locations – an eighty percent employee participation rate. Sixty percent of participants identified significant health risks for which an on-site,  health risk intervention program was available. Forty percent committed to participating in the client-sponsored program with eighty-five percent completing their program.
